We love Mr The Beef and the crazy world he lives in. He has recently designed the artwork for the Here Comes Treble compilation and also crafted the artwork for his good friend Ben Mi Duck’s Stepping Back single. Each week we will feature one of his designs as well as work by other artists that Beef recommends. His designs are as much of a feature on any release as the actual music contained on them so we think he deserves his own artist page . . .
Here is a short bio by Mr The Beef himself:
Mr The Beef was born many moons ago, at the tender age of six, in the market town of Derby. Since then he has been obsessed with making marks using blunt objects on flat surfaces. This simple existence continued until one day, earlier this century, he decided to take his obsession to art college in a funny little place called ‘Lincoln’. Nowadays Mr The Beef has settled in a haven known as ‘Nottingham’ and uses his primitive, but academically approved, skills to pay the bills. He works mainly with black marker pens on found bits of cardboard and uses photoshop to tidy things up a bit, although he can often be found prowling about late at night with large paper characters and a brush loaded with wallpaper paste in hand.
