Sup’ dawg? You are now entering the fifth blog by Domu, or the sixth, im not sure. I have realised now a weekly blog is quite demanding, so i might drop it down a bit. I do worry that it is all a bit repetitive and ultimately pointless. But I will come clean. The idea is to keep something like this going so you remember to check the site, and then suddenly when there is something new up for sale, you might be tempted to buy it. Here Comes Treble has dominated the front page for a while now, as well as mine and Shifts mind’s, it will be great to draw a line under it at the end of the month and move on. Thankfully there are a handful of exciting new releases through the rest of the year to keep you all checking in. But in the meantime here is some more rambling guff from me.
Yesterday I had loads of stuff buzzing around my head. Some thought provoking issues to raise with you all, like an enormous ideas Frisbee I could have thrown it out to you lovely intelligent people. In return, you would have kept hurling it around the grassy play area of the internet to each other, building tenacity and momentum on any new players joining, occasionally flying out of bounds into your front rooms or places of work. But I have woken up to find my mind has been erased by mind rubbers. Nothing. All I’ve got is the ability to create naff analogies about Frisbees. My God, what am I going to talk about?
Ben Mi Duck were great at the weekend gigs, I do know that much. And their last minute replacement singer Aisling did an amazing job after about 24 hours notice to learn the songs and fit into the band. Well done to all involved with Patterns at Corsica and Co-op at Concrete. I must admit I worked fairly hard this weekend, DJ’d, drove about and even had a bash at being a Del Boy market trader, selling knock off Treble O music at a discount price. I must thank Adam Rock and Motet for helping me with the stall and my sales techniques, and must admit their Jazz Re:Freshed double CD album that was also on sale at the event, is simply stunning. I strongly reccomend anyone with a hint of soul in their bodies should buy this album. It will make your summer, trust me.
Two very late nights, and not sleeping that well after them, I still feel quite exhausted. And that’s probably why I can’t think that well this morning. I have that fuzzy headed feeling of needing to over sleep to catch up, but once you have over slept your body wants to let you know you shouldn’t do it again. And those of you with concerns for my liver will be pleased to note I didn’t touch a drop at either gig. Wow.
This weekend coming I’m in Leciester on Friday 23rd, then have two gigs on bank holiday Sunday. One is the children’s deaf charity gig Lend Me Your Ears at Gramophone, and the other is the first Co-Op special at East Village. I hope to see some of you about, and I reckon I will carry on peddling Treble O tut onto an unsuspecting public. So If you haven’t responded to the audio-visual bombardment that announced the compilation was on sale, you can buy it off me in person at one of these gigs. I will be doing the same a weekend later at THIS IS UK SOUL on the 31st, representing with the Uprock and the Bugz crews in my own seedy little back room. Sweet.
Ok, I will admit, a bit of a wimpering, uninspiring blog this week. But hey that’s how I roll. Sometimes, I’m all guns blazing and every hit is a knockout. Others, I have shot my filthy bolt and am lying spent on a decrepit mattress in a brothel in soho, feeling disgusted with myself and utterly useless. Today is one of those days. So perhaps instead of doing this non-sense, I should make some music! Remember that? When I used to make music? The question is can I remember how to do it…?

EZ Domu and treble-O,
Had a really good time on saturday night at concrete, music was spot on.
